Purpose
The goal of the project is to establish the feasibility of using antifreeze additives to thaw and prevent the impact of seasonal soil freezing when constructing driven pile foundations in winter.
Project objectives
- Study existing methods and standards and analyze the reliability of the obtained results;
- аnalyze the current state of domestic and foreign technologies for constructing pile foundations in seasonally frozen soils;
- сonduct laboratory tests: model pile tests, compression, and shear tests of samples to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the soil at negative temperatures;
- select research methods for local thawing of seasonally frozen soil in pile foundation locations;
- develop a composite formulation of chemical reagents to ensure the thawing of seasonally frozen soils, taking into account thermophysical, ecological, and economic requirements;
- study the thermophysical characteristics of seasonally frozen soil depending on the depth to determine the optimal thickness of the chemical reagent filling in pile foundation locations;
- study the pattern of changes in the depth of thawing of seasonally frozen soil depending on time and the thickness of the chemical reagent filling;
- develop the most effective technological methods for applying the chemical reagent in pile foundation locations in seasonally frozen soils;
- conduct scientific and experimental work on the application of developed chemical reagent formulations in pile foundation installations in seasonally frozen soils;

- perform preliminary simulated test tasks using Plaxis software with specified conditions and parameters for testing pile foundations in winter conditions;
- test piles during driving using the PDA method without leader drilling and test piles with leader drilling in winter conditions;
- test driven piles with leader drilling in winter conditions;
- test driven piles with antifreeze additives to prevent soil freezing when constructing pile foundations in winter;
- conduct tests on the impact of local thawing of seasonally frozen soil using the proposed chemical reagent formulation on the static load and integrity of the pile foundation;
- calculate the economic efficiency of using the proposed chemical reagent formulation for local thawing of seasonally frozen soils in pile foundation locations.
- test piles during driving using the PDA method without leader drilling and test piles with leader drilling in winter conditions;
- test driven piles with leader drilling in winter conditions;
- test driven piles with antifreeze additives to prevent soil freezing when constructing pile foundations in winter;
- conduct tests on the impact of local thawing of seasonally frozen soil using the proposed chemical reagent formulation on the static load and integrity of the pile foundation;
- calculate the economic efficiency of using the proposed chemical reagent formulation for local thawing of seasonally frozen soils in pile foundation locations.
Expected results
By the end of the project, recommendations for the use of antifreeze reagents for local thawing of seasonally frozen soils in pile foundation locations and the development of a new antifreeze reagent formulation to prevent the freezing of seasonally frozen soil and thawing of frozen soil, ensuring a continuous construction process, are expected.
Additionally, the following results are anticipated:
1. Publication of 2 scientific articles in foreign peer-reviewed scientific journals with an impact factor indexed in the Web of Science database in quartiles 1, 2, and 3 and/or Scopus above the 50th percentile.
2. Publication of 2 scientific articles in peer-reviewed foreign and/or domestic journals recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1. Publication of 2 scientific articles in foreign peer-reviewed scientific journals with an impact factor indexed in the Web of Science database in quartiles 1, 2, and 3 and/or Scopus above the 50th percentile.

The expected results represent a competitive product with a high local content share and potential for subsequent commercialization, thereby providing a positive socio-economic effect.
The expected scientific results represent new knowledge and are groundbreaking in the scientific community of Kazakhstan, contributing to the development of innovation in the construction sector. Publication of the project's results will promote their dissemination among potential users, the scientific community, and the general public.
