An agreement has been reached with Harvard

Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek concluded his working visit to the United States with a meeting with representatives of Harvard University, during which an agreement was reached on the internship of Harvard students in Kazakhstan.

On the last working day in the USA, Minister Sayasat Nurbek held a meeting with the leadership of Harvard Innovation Lab, The New England Commission of Higher Education, Davis Center of Russia and Eurasia studies Harvard Kennedy School, Douglas Dillon Professor of Public Administration Graham Allison and Sumitomo-FASID Professor of International Finance and Development at Harvard Kennedy School, Director Azim Khwaja Center for International Development.

During the event, the head of the department spoke about the system of higher education and science in Kazakhstan, about the prospects and priorities that the ministry faces. Also, in order to develop higher education in Kazakhstan, a partnership with a leading world university was proposed.

In turn, Professor Azim Khwaja acquainted the Minister with the activities of the center, which he directs. He noted his interest and offered to start cooperation with the internship of Harvard students in Kazakhstan. Minister Sayasat Nurbek supported this initiative.

In addition, they discussed possible projects for the exchange of university students and scientists. To further discuss the development of cooperation between Kazakh universities and Harvard University, Sayasat Nurbek invited Professor Azim Khwaja to visit Kazakhstan, the invitation was accepted positively.

After the official meetings, the Minister met with Kazakhstan students who study at Harvard University and MIT. The guys shared their impressions of studying abroad. In turn, the Minister told the students about the ongoing reforms in the field of higher education and science, separately emphasizing the measures taken by the state to support young researchers and scientists.
