For the first time, a press tour for media representatives was held at Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University

A press tour for representatives of the regional communications and media service was held at Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University. As part of the tour, the journalists got acquainted with a number of educational facilities.

One of the main innovations of the new academic year is the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics. This year, 100 educational grants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan were allocated for educational programs "Informatics", "Cybersecurity", "Computer Programming and Software Development", "Information Systems". Starting next academic year, the Seoul National University of Science and Technology will begin training in a two-degree diploma program in the educational programs "AI architect", "Data management".

"With funding from Seoul National Technical University of Science and Technology, 190 computers, 8 servers, and 5 laboratories will be equipped at the university. In addition to Russian and Kazakh, students can study in English and Korean," said Nurlan Kumyrzaev, Director of the Institute.

It should be noted that in 2023, on behalf of the Head of State, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics was opened together with the Seoul National University of Science and Technology in Korea.

The field of science is rapidly developing in the educational institution. At the same time, media representatives got acquainted with the new auditoriums of the educational institution: the Museum of Water Management named after Madelkhan Nalibayev, the laboratory of engineering profile "Physico-chemical Research Methods", the Scientific and Educational Center for Chemical and Biological Research named after T.D.Kuanyshbayev, the International Center for Ecosystem Research of the Aral Sea Region and new auditoriums opened at the expense of sponsors over the past five years.

Currently, 23 projects out of 30 scientific projects are being implemented at the university within the framework of grant funding from the Science Committee. In addition, 6 international projects are being implemented. These are joint projects with South Korea, Portugal, Japan, Great Britain, Belgium, Turkey in the field of artificial intelligence, chemical technologies, archeology, business development, art and cultural studies, and informatics.

This year, 3 scientists became holders of state scientific scholarships, 3 scientists joined the National Scientific Council. In addition, an internal grant of the university has been allocated for three years to support the scientific research of young scientists for a total of 10 million tenge. And since this year, the volume of support for young scientists has increased by 20 million. In addition, last year, 13 teachers were trained abroad under the "500 scientists" project. Currently, 6 teachers are undergoing scientific training abroad.

Then the journalists took a tour to the botanical garden. This year, more than 200 million have been invested in the botanical garden of the university.  The total area is 5 hectares. 
"There is a greenhouse in the Botanical Garden, consisting of two blocks. The total area of the greenhouse is 800 meters. Today, 3 cucumber hybrids and 1 melon hybrid are being tested. In the university greenhouse, students of the Department of Biology and Agronomy have the opportunity to conduct research and practice," said Samalbek Kosanov, director of the Botanical Garden.

It should be noted that the overhaul of the Botanical Garden is currently being completed. In the future, the park will become a place of recreation for residents and guests of the city.  
In the new academic year, the total contingent exceeded ten thousand people. This year, 3205 people were accepted, 1315 students became grant holders. Citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, China, and Afghanistan study at the educational institution. Lectures are given by more than 500 faculty members. The highest scholarships in the country are awarded to students of the Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University.

The journalists visited the hostel "Inkar" in order to familiarize themselves with the condition of the students. The 300-bed Inkar dormitory, commissioned in the new academic year, currently has 180 students. The hostel, equipped in a modern style, has an additional place to relax, a computer room and a laundry room. 

"This year, the problem of the hostel has been completely solved. Currently, the university has 4 student houses and 3 private dormitories on its balance sheet at the expense of entrepreneurs. This year, the construction of a dining room with a coworking center for 50 seats will be completed," said Vice-rector for Social and Educational Work Zhandos Bazartai.

This year, for the first time, Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University took a place in the Times Higher Education ranking of world universities according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It was also included in the international rating of UI GreenMetric for the first time.  20 educational programs of the university are among the top three in the republic.

At the end of the press tour, the Chairman of the Board-Rector Beibitkul Sarsemkhanovna met with media representatives in the modern library of the university in the Open space format. The head of the University thanked the journalists who work closely together and contribute to the implementation of information policy in the field of science and education.
