In the regional universal scientific library named after A. Tazhibayev, a scientific and educational conference was held on the topic "The issues of disaster and persecution in the work of S. Zhusup (1920-1930)", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the famous public figure, local historian, writer Sagat Zhusup.

The purpose of the meeting is to get acquainted with the difficult times of Kazakh history in a new light through the research of Sagat Zhusup and to bring these issues to society. Sagat Esmakhanovich was born in the village of Birkazan, Kyzylorda region. He is the author of more than twenty historical and educational books. He is a well-known person in the Republic, who has been conducting systematic research for many years and writing about colonial times in Kazakh history, disasters, persecution and famine during the Soviet Union.

The meeting was opened by Deputy Head of the Department of Public Development of Kyzylorda region, Candidate of Historical Sciences Valikhan Ibraev. He emphasized the importance of S. Zhusup's research on Kazakh history, the role of his works in the formation of the historical consciousness of the Kazakh people.

During the conference, scientists of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University made reports on the topics: Kali Omarov - "Some facts from the history of disaster and persecution", Aitzhan Orazbakov - "The Aral concentration camp in the early 1930s: New data and facts", Bakytzhan Akhmetbek - "The Uprising of the Syrdarya region in 1930: Causes and consequences". S. Zhusup shared his thoughts on the past, present and future of the investigation of disasters, persecution and famine that devastated the country.

The conference was attended by scientists, representatives of public organizations. The participants visited the thematic book exhibition of the library. The hero of an anniversary was awarded a gold medal from Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, a letter of thanks from the People's Party of Kazakhstan, and a chapan.
