About internationalization of higher education

On June 14, the international online conference "Strategies and practices of the internationalization of education" was held at Kyzylorda University named after Korkyt ata

The conference was organized within the framework of the scientific project "Development of the linguistic and cultural competencies of students in the context of internationalization of higher education in Kazakhstan". Kyzylorda University named after Korkyt ata is one of the first higher educational institutions in Kazakhstan to become a member of the COIL platform. During the implementation of the project, the joint programs in Kazakh-Russian and Kazakh-English languages were developed with foreign partner universities. Interaction with students and teachers of the foreign partner universities contributed to the formation of students' linguistic, cultural and intercultural competencies.

As a member of the COIL platform, the university conducts activities for the exchange of experience with other domestic higher education institutions.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss and share experiences in the following key areas:

- discussion of the best practices and approaches to internationalization of the educational programs and research activities;

- discussion of current trends in the internationalization of higher education;

- identification of strategic directions for the development of internationalization in higher education.

The opening of the conference began with a speech of the Chairman of the Board-Rector of Kyzylorda University named after Korkyt ata B.S. Karimova, Project Manager. In her speech, she highlighted current trends and opportunities for the development of internationalization of higher education, which covers such aspects as: academic mobility of students and teachers, the development of the international training programs and scientific internships, research partnerships and global academic integration.

The report of the Advisor to the Minister of Science of Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan F.N. Zhakupova "National University ranking: international experience and proposed methodology" aroused great interest. F.N. Zhakupova stressed the importance of the International Observatory on Academic Differentiation and Dominance (IREG) for improving the quality of the international and national rankings of higher education institutions.

The development of the "Generation T" through international partnership and the effectiveness of the international partnership were highlighted in the report of the President-Rector of "ALT University named after M.Tynyshpaeva" Saltanat Amirgalieva.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) Evgeny Pogrebnyak spoke about international cooperation in education, how to develop digital skills at a competitive level.

Prorector for Internationalization and Infrastructure Development of Kokshetau University named after Sh. Ualikhanov Zhailaugul Sagindykova highlighted in her report the issues of permanent partnership and the necessary positions in the search for foreign partners.

The Global Networking initiative, the virtual exchange initiative, was presented in the report by Tanya Carmel Sargent, Director of the EdD program at Rutgers Graduate School of Education, Doctor at the University of New Brunswick.

The main focus of the conference was on expanding knowledge and understanding of the importance of internationalization, identifying specific actions to implement internationalization strategies.

The conference "Internationalization of Education: Strategies and Practices" provided a unique opportunity for Heads of the educational institutions, teachers, researchers and students to discuss the most important aspects and trends of internationalization, find inspiration and practical solutions to improve their programs and initiatives.

The internationalization of higher education includes the introduction and development of strategies and practices aimed at improving international integration and cooperation in the educational environment.
