Kyzylorda university and Seultech launch a double degree program

Starting in 2025, students of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University will study at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) under the dual degree program. This opportunity has appeared thanks to an agreement between the universities, which will open up new opportunities for both Kazakhstani and Korean students.

A number of events in the field of investment and business, science and education were held in Astana today as part of the state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan by the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol. As part of these events, a bilateral agreement was signed between Seoul National University of Science and Technology and Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University on bachelor's degree training in educational programs such as AI architect and Data management. Students will be able to receive two diplomas – from SeulTech and Korkyt ata Kyzylorda University. Admission to this program will begin from the 2025-2026 academic year. The program will be available to students enrolled in the Higher School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University.

Under the agreement, students will study in Kazakhstan for the first four semesters, and then continue to study at Seoul National University of Science and Technology for the next four semesters. Program participants must meet the academic requirements of both universities, including compulsory and selective courses. The selection of participants in the program is based on academic and linguistic competencies, skills in intercultural communication.

This program is aimed at deepening academic ties between Kazakhstan and South Korea, developing intercultural competence among students and ensuring their competitiveness in the international labor market. The first group of students will start studying under this program in September 2025. At the meeting of university rectors, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University Beibitkul Karimova noted: "We are pleased to begin a new stage of cooperation with SeoulTech, which will open up unique opportunities for our students to receive international education and cultural exchange."

For his part, Dong Hwang Kim, President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, noted: "The signing of the agreement strengthens our academic ties and opens up new horizons for students from both countries. We are looking forward to the launch of this program."

Thus, for the first time in Kazakhstan, artificial intelligence architects and data management specialists will be trained. The country needs highly qualified personnel who could introduce AI into the daily sphere of activity and business processes, improve the quality of life of Kazakhstanis. That is why the formation of human capital with knowledge of world technologies is impossible without global knowledge and international cooperation.
