An agreement was reached with the Republic of Korea on the introduction of a dual-degree educational program
An important event has taken place in strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea in the field of Higher Education. Minister of Science and higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan S. Nurbek met with the president of the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech). The meeting was attended by Ambassador to Korea Nurgali Arystanov, Chairman of the board-Rector of Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University Beibitkul Karimova.
During the meeting, an agreement on cooperation in the field of Information Technology and artificial intelligence was signed. The agreement provides for the opportunity for students to first study at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University under the SeoulTech program, and then continue their studies in Korea and receive a double diploma. This agreement is a continuation of the LUPIC project, in which the two universities intend to cooperate on the development of artificial intelligence and research programs.
The signing ceremony took place on April 3, 2024 in the SeoulTech building, an event that highlighted the importance and perspective of International Educational Partnership. This agreement will allow students of Kazakhstan to receive high-quality education at the leading University of South Korea and become highly qualified specialists in the field of artificial intelligence.
During the visit, meetings were held with the heads of departments of IT specialties of SeoulTech university. At these meetings, future prospects for cooperation were discussed, which will allow expanding cooperation and developing bilateral educational programs.
Both educational institutions give priority to the development of practical skills of students, actively using internships and exchange of experience within the framework of this project. In addition, special attention is paid to the support of students and undergraduates within the framework of the Global Korea Scholarship Program, which contributes to the strengthening of academic and scientific ties between the two countries
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation through academic mobility, the opening of Korean language courses in universities in Kazakhstan, the expansion of cooperation within the framework of the international scholarship "Bolashak" and the program of scientific internships "500 scientists".
Last year, according to the project for the development of cooperation with Korean universities, the SeoulTech School of artificial intelligence of Seoul University was opened at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. As a result, education in IT technologies, cybersecurity and computer science will be provided in the region. Joint programs were registered and started training engineering specialists.
Currently, the university maintains cooperation with almost 200 foreign universities, cultural and scientific centers. Among these countries, the Republic of Korea occupies a special place. Joint work with Seoul National University of Science and Technology makes a great contribution to the economic and digital development of the Kyzylorda region and the country as a whole.
